FAQs

How quickly can I get STI test results in London?

We offer Same Day STI Testing at our Marylebone clinic with results typically available within 4 hours of your appointment. Even if you attend our last appointment of the day (5:30 pm on weekdays or 1:30 pm on weekends), you will still receive your results on the same day.

Note: Tests for Mycoplasma genitalium and confirmation tests for reactive HIV/Syphilis/Hepatitis may take up to 4 working days.

Where is the clinic located?

Our London clinic is centrally located in Marylebone (NW1), just a short walk from Baker Street and Marylebone stations. We are easily accessible from Paddington, Soho, Westminster, and King's Cross.

How will I receive my results?

You can choose to receive results by text or email (recommended). If you test positive for HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C, we will always communicate this over a phone call or in person to ensure you have full support.

Can I get a certificate of my STI test results?

Yes. Please request this in your pre-appointment questionnaire. If you need a certificate for official purposes (e.g., visa applications), please bring your passport or driving license to your appointment.

How soon after sex can I get tested? (Window Periods)

It depends on the test type:

  • Routine Screening: Recommended 2 weeks (14 days) after contact.
  • Early Detection: We offer specialized HIV RNA PCR tests that can detect infections as early as 10-14 days after exposure.
  • Standard HIV Test: The standard 4th Generation HIV test is conclusive from 45 days after contact.
Are the test results accurate?

Yes, our tests are approximately 99% accurate and meet strict national regulations. We include a "Specimen Adequacy Control" for urine and swab tests to ensure the sample quality is high enough for a reliable result.

How can I prepare for my STI test?
  • Men: Please avoid passing urine for 1-2 hours before your appointment. This ensures we can get a high-quality sample.
  • Women: No specific preparation is needed. You can even be tested during your period; it will not affect the results.
  • Antibiotics: If you are currently taking antibiotics, please let us know, as this may affect sample quality or results.
What samples do I need to give?
  • Urine: Self-collected (usually for men).
  • Blood: Taken from the vein by our clinician.
  • Swabs (Throat/Rectal/Vaginal): You can choose to take these yourself or have our clinician do it for you.
Do I need to see a doctor for an STI test?

Not necessarily. If you have symptoms, we recommend a Consultation so a doctor can examine you. If you have no symptoms, know exactly what you need, and have no questions, you can use our Drop & Go (Without Consultation) service, which is faster and costs less.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a partner, friend, or family member. We also offer a chaperone service if you would like a staff member present during your examination.

What happens if my test is positive?

We will ask you to come in to receive treatment. We can prescribe the necessary medication or refer you appropriately. If you have been in contact with a confirmed positive partner, we may be able to offer treatment in the same appointment before results are back, depending on the clinician's judgment.

Will I need a 'Test of Cure' after treatment?

It depends on the infection:

  • Gonorrhoea & Trichomonas: Retest 2 weeks after starting treatment.
  • Chlamydia & Mycoplasma: Retest 4 weeks after starting treatment.
  • Syphilis: Your clinician will advise on the exact timing.
How much does Same Day STI testing cost?
  • Routine (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Syphilis): £200 (45 days) / £300 (14 days).
  • Plus (Adds Hep B & C): £250 (45 days) / £400 (14 days).
  • Enhanced (Adds Trichomonas & Mycoplasma): £350 (45 days) / £500 (14 days).
  • Consultation Fee: £60 (Charged only if no tests are taken; otherwise included in testing fee).
  • Drop & Go: Discounted rates apply for testing without consultation (e.g., Routine from £140).
Can I claim this on my health insurance?

Many health insurance policies do cover sexual health visits. We recommend checking with your provider, and we can provide the necessary receipts for your claim.
