How Klarna Works

#1 Get Ready with the Klarna App

Before you start, please ensure you have the Klarna app installed on your phone and are signed in to your account. This is required to use the service.

#2 Open Your Invoice Link

Before you leave, our Clinical Support Team will e-mail your invoice with a link to pay on your phone. Simply follow the link to pay via Klarna.

#3 Confirm Your Payment

Because you are already logged in to the app, you will simply need to review and confirm the “Pay in 3” plan. The first payment will be taken immediately, and the rest are automatic.

What do I need before I can pay?

To use our "Pay in 3" option, you must first have the Klarna app downloaded onto your smartphone and be signed into your Klarna account.

How much am I eligible to spend?

There is no predefined spending limit when using Klarna. Instead, a new automated approval decision about how much you can spend with us is made each time you pay with Klarna. Your "Purchase Power" is an estimated amount based on factors such as your payment history with Klarna and your outstanding balance. This amount is not a guarantee and may change based on the store and payment option you choose.

To see your estimated amount to spend:

  • Go to Purchase power.
  • Follow the prompts to check the estimated amount you can spend on your next purchase.

To increase your "Purchase power," a good payment history, always paying on time, and making payments towards your outstanding purchases can help over time. Klarna Customer Service cannot accept requests for spending limit increases.

If you've spent above your purchase power, it will be £0. Making payments towards your outstanding purchases can increase your "Purchase power." If you have overdue or failed payments, your "Purchase Power" will not be available. To increase your chance of approval to shop with Klarna, and view your "Purchase power" in the app, settle your failed or overdue payments.

For Klarna Financing, your credit limit will be confirmed by email once you have signed your Klarna Account agreement. Your credit limit is also shown on each monthly statement or in the app.

How do I start the payment process?

Once you have the Klarna app ready, find the invoice email from Clarewell and click the secure payment link inside.

What are the steps on the payment page?

Simply choose Klarna. You will be prompted to confirm the payment plan. Because you are already signed in on your app, the process is very fast and secure.

What happens after I confirm?

Your first of three instalments is paid straight away. Klarna then automatically handles the next two payments every 30 days and will send you reminders.

Patients Using GoCardless

We will be ceasing any further Payment Plans on GoCardless from Monday 6th of October 2025. Any patients looking to use a payment plan must use Klarna (for which you will require to have created an account before your appointment).
